LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken notice of players hosting space sessions on X (formerly Twitter) and answering fans' questions, Geo News reported on Friday.
As per sources, PCB has decided to formulate a policy for players on participation in a social media space.
Sources further added that these sessions on social media will be seen in light of the central contract as PCB is worried that the player may not get involved in any controversy.
Meanwhile, the governing body has also decided to discuss the issues with the players and their agents. PCB's International Cricket Department has been instructed to review this matter, according to sources.
Recently, top batter Babar Azam and T20I captain Shaheen Afridi participated in a question-and-answer session on X.
Babar Azam hosted Space on February 1 where he he answered questions asked by fans a day earlier.
The 29-year-old touched upon various things related to his cricket career, life and parents. But his teammate and Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan made a surprise appearance in the space and asked Babar about his marriage plans.
Babar initially couldn't recognise Rizwan, however, asked him how he landed in this space.
"When is your marriage," Rizwan asked. "I knew you would ask this," Babar replied.
"You will have to answer this," Rizwan question. "I will answer this to you privately," Babar responded.
On the other hand, Shaheen hosted the session on February 4. The left-arm pacer was asked if he would entertain the possibility of bowling alongside retired pacer Mohammad Amir in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Afridi confirmed that he will ask Amir if he’s open to making a comeback to the team.
“I will talk to Mohammad Amir if he's available to come back for Pakistan once again. Amir and I bowled together after almost 5 years. It was a very good experience to bowl with him, our partnership was great," Afridi stated.
